Billing
Ycode Cloud uses Stripe for subscription management and payments. Each project has its own subscription. Projects start on Free so you can build with the full editor. Upgrade per project when you are ready to host the site — there is no use case for running a website forever on the free plan.
Free projects
Free projects are for building, not for hosting. Keep the project active in the editor (open it, edit, or publish). After 7 days of inactivity, a never-subscribed Free project is deleted.
A published *.ycode.website site sitting idle still counts as inactive. If you want the site to stay online, subscribe to a paid plan.
Paid projects, and projects that used to be paid, are not deleted for inactivity.
Idle Free projects are removed automatically after 7 days. There is no restore. Export a backup before you step away, or upgrade to paid if the site should stay live.
Subscribing
On a Free Cloud project, the editor header shows a Free label and an Upgrade button after the locale selector and project URL. Upgrade opens Plan & billing with the heading Upgrade to Cloud. Every collaborator on the Free project sees this — not only people who can manage settings. Paid projects hide both.
Subscribe from Upgrade, or from the project’s Billing details menu. Once subscribed, the project gets access to all paid features including custom domains, publishing, and priority support.
Managing a Subscription
Click the ⋮ menu on a project card and select Billing details to open the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can:
- View invoices and payment history
- Update payment methods — Change your credit card or payment details
- Change plan — Switch between monthly and annual billing
- Cancel subscription — End the subscription at the end of the current billing period
Ycode Legacy was shut down on July 1, 2026 and all active projects were migrated to the new Ycode. If you had a paid subscription on Legacy, it carried over automatically at your existing price with all features of the new Ycode unlocked.
Project Status
Each project on the dashboard shows a category badge that reflects its billing state:

| Free | The project is on the free tier with full editor features; custom domains are locked. Idle never-subscribed Free projects are deleted after 7 days |
| Paid | The project has an active subscription with custom domains and other paid features unlocked |
| Lifetime | A lifetime entitlement granted by Ycode (e.g. legacy migration with a permanent grant) |
| Past due | Payment failed; update the payment method to avoid interruption |
| Cancelled | The subscription ended; some features may be limited |
